Cape May and the Longfellow House at its holiday best

Cape May and the Longfellow family guest house is at its holiday best when it's decked out for the season...

Take a carriage ride down the oldest street in Cape May - Hughes street (our house is located on Hughes)... framed by gas street lamps.

Smell fragrant evergreen wreaths and garland...enjoy red bows and sparkling ornaments... and lots of bright twinkling lights over Victorian gingerbread style architecture all help to make this a special holiday season.

One of the things we’re sure your kids will not want to miss is the variety of trolley and walking tours that let you soak in the old world charm of historic Cape May.

We’re only a short 10 minute walk to Emlen Physick Estate where you and the family can stop in at the Carriage House Tearoom & Cafe.

Consider visiting the "Old-Fashioned Christmas" exhibit in the Gallery... maybe even shop for unique gifts for those hard to buy family members and close friends at the Carriage House Gallery Shop.

Longfellow House Fall Weekend Get-Away Trips

The Longfellow House has been in our family going on 3 centuries. Trust us when we say it takes a lot of love, blood... sweat... and fears (for those of us who don’t like high ladder work) to maintain our home. That said - one of the truly great things about Cape May is the unique architecture found throughout the town.

Since 2005, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC) has presented the Designer Show House for the enjoyment of local residents and visitors.

Noted designers from the region have transformed historic properties into gems of modern living and design, while maintaining the historical integrity of the buildings, and restoring them to their former glory.

If you’re planning a vacation to the Longfellow House this Fall and enjoy architecture you might want to include a visit to the Designer Show House.

This year’s property, the Otis Townsend Residence was built in 1915 and is an outstanding representation of Craftsman-style architecture and that relies mainly on its structural details for ornamentation.

The Otis House is located on 115 Reading Ave., Cape May Open through October 19, 2008.

Timings are from 10 am to 3 pm daily, and evenings Sunday through Friday, 7pm. Special luncheon and dinner tours also available.

Longfellow House - Fall Fine Dining, Wining Weekend Holiday Get A Ways

Longfellow House - Fall Fine Dining, Wining Weekend Holiday Get A Ways

Regular visitors to Cape May often boast of the towns eclectic restaurant scene. Our good friends at the Washington Inn, known for their decerning palates and fondness to tip and toast a good meal have put together a series of wine tasting courses.

That's what we call a 'tastey' subject.

Hosted by the Washington Inn (just a 3 minute stumble around the corner from our humble abode) and sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC).

Unless otherwise noted, all classes are conducted at the Washington Inn, 801 Washington Street, Cape May, and are held from 1pm-3pm on Sunday afternoons.

Attendees must be 21.

Any questions - call 800-275-4278!

Cheers...where everyone knows your name... Bottoms Up!
